The set of Software that allows the effective resource management of a computer is known as OS or software from system . These programs begin to work as soon as the equipment is turned on, since they manage the hardware from the most basic levels and also allow interaction with the user.

The operating system fulfills five basic functions: the user interface supply , the resource management , the File management , the task management and the support service and utilities .
As for the user interface, the system ensures that the subject can load programs , access files and perform other tasks with the computer. Resource management allows the hardware address , including peripherals and the net . The system software also handles the file management , by controlling the creation, elimination and access to them, and of the administration of computer tasks that end users carry forward.
Finally, we can mention that the support service is responsible for to update the versions, improve the security of the system, add new utilities , control the new peripherals that are added to the computer and correct the mistakes of the software
