Among the different meanings of the term resistance its meaning is found as the ability to bear or tolerate something . If we focus on the physical capacity of people, we can understand resistance as the possibility of making an effort for as long a period as possible.

It is possible, in this sense, to distinguish between aerobic resistance and the anaerobic resistance . The aerobic resistance It is the ability of a human being to carry out an effort of medium or mild intensity over a long time. The anaerobic resistance instead refers to the ability to make a very intense effort for a short time .

The notion of anaerobiosis refers to life that develops in an environment that lacks oxygen . In the case of the physical activity that a human being can perform, anaerobic resistance is talked about when, because the effort that is made is so intense, the individual fails to take the amount of oxygen he needs. In this way, the effort ends with a lack of oxygen .

If it is interesting to know that during the anaerobic resistance exercise the athlete in question starts with a heart rate of 180 beats per minute, so is the fact that there are two different types of that resistance:
-Alactic. This term is used to refer to explosive-type activities and efforts that also have a short duration, specifically, they usually do not last more than 16 seconds. During these it should be stated that the amount of oxygen is practically zero. In this category you can include, for example, 30-meter flat runs.
-Lactic. Under this other concept is framed an anaerobic resistance class that is defined because the efforts usually have a maximum duration of 3 minutes. To this it should be added that during them the organism of the athlete in question what it does is generate waste substances, what is known as lactic acid, which are responsible for causing fatigue.

Experts say that anaerobic exercises cannot be developed for more than three minutes . There are efforts that, given the high intensity, can barely be maintained for a maximum of fifteen seconds, since the oxygen level is almost zero. Others, on the other hand, can hold up to three minutes.

Athletes who specialize in one hundred meter races For example, they need to train mostly their anaerobic resistance. This is because they need to achieve their best performance in just a few seconds. Instead, marathon runners must work on their aerobic endurance: the effort is less intense, but longer in the weather .

In addition to all of the above, another important series of aspects related to anaerobic resistance such as these are:
-Examples of exercises that qualify as such are speed races, weightlifting, jumps in various athletic events ...
-Although, as a general rule, athletes during their workouts focus more on one type of resistance or another, aerobic or anaerobic, it is recommended that these sessions combine both. Why? Because in this way they will not only improve their performance in the discipline they practice but will also achieve a better state of health.
